Hosting

Node.js, Python & Ruby apps

Customers set up apps in Setup Node.js App, Setup Python App and Setup Ruby App.

How apps run

  • Admins choose which runtime versions are available in Servers › App Selectors. Runtimes are installed under /opt/nexpanel/runtimes.
  • Each app gets its own virtual environment in the account's home (~/nodevenv, ~/virtualenv, ~/rubyvenv), its own systemd service and a unix socket. The web server sends the app's domain or path to that socket.
  • Apps run as the account user inside the account's isolated environment and count against its resource limits.

Managing an app

From the app's page customers can start, stop and restart it, view its log, set environment variables, and run commands such as npm install, pip install -r requirements.txt or bundle install in the app's environment.
