Getting started

First steps

Log in and secure the admin account

  1. Open the admin panel (https://<server-ip>:2087/admin for all-in-one, or https://<your-controller-domain>/admin).
  2. Log in with the email and password from /root/nexpanel-credentials.txt.
  3. Change the password from the user menu (top right), then delete the credentials file: shred -u /root/nexpanel-credentials.txt.
  4. Add your colleagues in Administration › Staff & roles. Roles are admin, support and billing; only admins can change servers, security and updates.

Branding

In Administration › Settings & alerts set the panel name, the support URL and the accent colour that customers see in their panel and on the login page.

Create a package

A package is a hosting plan. Open Hosting › Packages › New package and set:

  • Disk space and inodes (number of files)
  • Resource limits — CPU (% of a core), physical memory, entry processes, processes, disk I/O (MB/s), IOPS and PHP workers. These are enforced by the LVE manager.
  • SSH access and whether PHP may run shell commands

A value of 0 means unlimited.

Create an account

Open Hosting › List Accounts › Create account, enter the username, primary domain, email and package, and choose the node (or let NexPanel place it on the least-loaded node that accepts new accounts).

The account owner logs in to the customer panel (:2083/panel in all-in-one mode) with their username and password. As an admin you can also open their panel with Login as user on the account page.

Point the domain

Point the domain's A record at the node's IP. If DNS is hosted by NexPanel (see DNS), the zone is created for you. Once the domain resolves, the customer can issue a free Let's Encrypt certificate in SSL/TLS.
